Newcastle v Leicester - Match Preview
It’s hard being a Newcastle fan at the moment.
The promise of a takeover before January is looking more and more like it won’t happen. No player having scored more than two goals this season and 1 point in the last 6 games. At least NUFC have still got Rafa though!
Should Newcastle be getting more than they have currently? Possibly, but are they going take three points off Leicester, who themselves have been in a bit of a mess?
After 5 points in their opening 8 games it was the answer to the question of, “To be or not to be?” for Craig Shakespeare who was given the boot (fairly or unfairly that’s the real question!) and replaced by the sturdy Claude Puel.
Now Leicester are back in the top half after only one loss since Shakespeare’s departure, and are on track for Europa League football next season.
For the Foxes this week, Demarai Gray is clear following his collision with the post vs Burnley. The Toon have boosts too though, with skipper Jamaal Lascelles back after five weeks out with an ankle injury and Christian Atsu is also now fit.
I’d love to be able to say Newcastle’s home record is enough for them to win this game and get them the win they truly need, but I think Leicester's creativity in Gray, Mahrez, and Vardy will be too much for the black and whites, and Leicester will secure the win.
If this indeed is the case, it would be the first time Rafa Benitez has ever lost 4 home games on the trot!
Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Leicester
