Newcastle v Wolves - Match Preview

After a reassuring win against Derby County, can Newcastle get their revenge on Wolves after losing to them in the league in September?

I’d say there’s no reason why not! Wolves are currently sitting in 18th, which is rather unflattering to them, after they’ve been on a run decent enough to earn their manager a nomination for Championship manager of the month for January. The picked up 7 points from their 4 league games in January, before losing to 21st placed Burton Albion last Saturday.

Newcastle on the other hand, took 6 points from their 3 league games in January, and have 4 from 2 so far in February. However, there seems to be a bit of discontent around St. James’ Park at the moment, which some fans worried Benitez is off in the summer after Mike Ashley shoved his fat head into the transfer dealings, supposedly.

For me, we have nothing to worry about, at the moment at least. Our squad is more than good enough to win the title, never mind just getting promoted.

Ashley is as Ashley does, if there is anyone that knows how to deal with a difficult owner, it’s Benitez, and I’m confident he won’t just walk away at the first sign of a bit of a disagreement. There’s no doubt the incredible attendance and atmosphere at the match on Saturday would’ve shown him exactly what this club could be if someone gave it the time.

My Predicted XI: Darlow; Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett; Shelvey, Hayden; Ritchie, Diame, Gouffran, Murphy.

I would like to see Lazaar get some game time, as well as Atsu given the nod over Gouffran.

This should be comfortable for us.

However, this is Newcastle United, and nothing is ever comfortable.

Still; I’m going for a 3-1 win.
