Newcastle v Tottenham - Match Preview
Match Preview or Rallying Call? Well, it honestly is with great sadness I'm writing a match preview with relegation confirmed, however it is also something that each and every one of us expected.
Sunderland can't take credit, Villa can't take credit, the club as a whole are the reason we're facing our second relegation in 9 years. So, what will the response be to relegation on Sunday? I have no doubts that Rafa Benitez will have told every single player, no matter how big a profile they think they have, that they need to go and play for their futures. There's no doubt the likes of Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Janmaat will be off out the exit door and nobody would blame Townsend for wanting to stay in the Premier League for his career and international prospects. One thing that we must do is get behind Rafa on Sunday, everybody is saying it, but it has to happen. As a collective we've got to show Benitez just how much we want and need him to stay, because we can't face another "yes man" philosophy if he were to go. Let's show Rafa that even in the Championship that we're a club that he can rebuild and have great success with in years to come.
Team news
For NUFC, there's no fresh news regarding who is available. We have the same squad available as was available for the game at Aston Villa next week. It is expected that Benitez will go with Mitrovic ahead of Cisse and Wijnaldum is expected to drop out the side in favour of Ayoze Perez. The back line is likely to remain the same with Vurnon Anita's performances keeping Daryl Janmaat out the side. Tottenham will be without the suspended Dele Alli and Moussa Dembele for Sunday's game however they will be at maximum strength going into a game which really need to make sure they win in order to confirm 2nd place in the league. Harry Kane will look to finish strongly ahead of leading the England line at EURO 2016.
Predicted line ups:
NUFC
Darlow Anita Mbemba Lascelles Dummett Colback Tiote Townsend Sissoko Perez Mitrovic THFC
Lloris Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose Dier Mason Lamela Eriksen Son Kane Overall, we have a hugely tough game ahead of us, but because of the confirmed circumstances of relegation, Sunday is now all about Rafa Benitez.
